At DIA you'll find a single source that can help you deal with the issues that are key to lifelong success. Our comprehensive Dyslexia/ADHD/Cognitive evaluation, consultation and reporting process provides you with the detailed answers you need.

Solutions:
In addition to our evaluation services, DIA provides remediation and advocacy services to ensure that you or your child receives the appropriate help and accommodations either at school or at work.  DIA's remediation program specifically addresses reading, spelling, writing, memory and attention in an integrated fashion, using the revolutionary Cyclical-Learning Model, which makes traditional linear, cumulative learning models obsolete.

Results:
Our powerful and unique Cyclical-Learning Model allows the average client with a learning difficulty (reading or AD/HD) to  triple their rate of reading growth (over special ed and traditional learning center programs) and retain fluency for years after graduating our program.

Top 5 Reasons
to get your child tested for
 Dyslexia / ADHD:

#1  CT schools rarely identify or inform parents about dyslexia, even though Connecticut's own state government recognizes that dyslexia is the cause of over 80% of reading difficulties.

#2  By knowing the cause of your child's difficulties you can get them the help they truly need. Only programs that are designed for children with Dyslexia and  implemented consistently and professionally have been shown to produce significant and lasting gains for struggling readers.

#5 A formal diagnosis of Dyslexia and/or ADHD can lead to more effective classroom and homework accommodations, and may assist in securing a 504 Plan, which often times allows accommodations to be provided even when a child is not eligible for special services.

Tid-Bits you Should Know.

* According to numerous national studies, Special Education reading programs provide little to no increase in a child's rate of reading growth - meaning they are generally ineffective.

* Short term, quick-fix programs measured in weeks don't produce long-term results. Effective remediation programs are measure in months or years, not weeks.

* Self-paced computer programs can't teach a child to overcome their difficulties.

* Arbitrary individualized goals found in school IEP's are NOT the same as individualized achievement plans that detail HOW a child will improve their skills. In general, IEP goals are of little benefit to a student.

* Did you know you can RECORD your IEP meetings? Do it and get better results!

Comprehensive Evaluations

Because the symptoms of Dyslexia and AD/HD-I (Inattentive Type, also known as ADD) can be very similar, it is important to test for both conditions to ensure a proper testing conclusion. In fact, since 30 to 40% of people with Dyslexia also have AD/HD (and visa-versa), it is important to determine if the two conditions are co-existing so that the proper remediation plan can be implemented.
