Symptoms of Dyslexia
Grade 3
At
this stage students should be “reading to learn”, not “learning to
read”. They learn to
mistrust themselves. They
are now comparing themselves to their peers and find themselves lacking.
What
our clients have been told:
"They may have
AD/HD"
"Their spelling poor, but that's normal"
"Our testing shows there is not a problem"
"Lets wait and see what when's next year"
"They're behind, we should have them tested"
What
you
should look for:
-
Continue
to struggle with learning to read
-
Great
imaginations and ideas, but cannot express themselves on paper
-
Lack
basic handwriting and spelling skills necessary to get their messages on
paper
-
Math
begins to become a struggle, as problems solving and word problems
become more complex
-
Homework
assignments continue to take longer than intended
